8 Months old

I've been really bad at posting lately.  Reed is growing quickly and is going thru the gangly stages :0)
He is seven months old in these pics.

Here he is at 8 months.

He is enjoying all his training in obedience, field and he has just started tracking.  He is really loving his scent pad work.  I did video some of it and will post it later.

Six months old

In a few days Reed will be six months old.  I've got a video using our new webcam of him doing a boat water mark that is just over 100 yards.  A webcam is not the best for this and we got it for other reasons but I thought it would be fun to try it out.  Enjoy :0)

Birds anyone?

Reed is 18 weeks and weighs 35 lbs.  He is a great little puppy and alot of fun to train.

Turns out Reed LOVES birds. He got his first flyer today and he couldn't stay away from them.

Reed is playing with his best friend River (that used to be a stuffed pig by the way).

He Swims!

And a video:

I had to take another video as we couldn't download the first one off of Chris' cell phone.

Reed is a very relaxed swimmer, never did the puppy splashing.

Reed's First Duck

He didn't know what to do with it at first, all he knew is that he really liked them.  Didn't take him long to figure it out.

He is sure growing like a weed, puppyhood just isn't long enough.

Where's Reed?

It took me a second to find him ;0)

We had a little cabin fever with all the rain and he discovered how much fun a roll of toilet paper could be.....I thought he was being a little too quiet....

And here he is so happy to be out running in the sunshine as we all were!

Warning, lots of cuteness!

Just a few new pics of Reed.  We had to buy a new small camera and of course have been playing with it.  He started puppy classes last week and is enjoying himself immensely.
Sorry for the picture heavy post......what can I say.......he is just so cute......

Reed has a thing for flowers I'm finding out.  Last week he stalked and pounced on a patch of violets, really wish I had my camera for that.  Today it was Dandelions....

Hmmm...that wasn't half bad, maybe I'll try another one....

What the heck, why not one more?

More cute pictures and a visit to the pond

Finally we have some nice weather!  We got out to do some field training with the dogs.  Reed did a few puppy retrieves and we brought him to the pond for a look around.

That is as far as he would venture into the water but my guess it won't take him long to go right in.  The water is still a bit chilly.

And because he is so cute playing with his little rubber duckie......

I have started on his training, I know hard to tell with all the pictures :0)
He has been working on the Third way attention foundation game but his attention span isn't very long at the moment. I have also started him on recalls.  He is very investigative and a bit indepentent.

So Cute.........

Early Puppy Pictures

I thought I would post Reed's early puppy pictures before I even knew what puppy was going to be mine.  I went thru them and found ones where I could see him.  He was wearing the dark blue ric rac.  Here he is at around 2 weeks.

5 weeks

6 weeks

7 weeks.  This is when I knew he was my puppy!  I had third pick male.  All of these puppies went into working homes.  I still had to wait another week until  he was old enough to fly.

He is Here!

I want to introduce Reed my new Golden Retriever puppy.  I've had many breeds but am new to Goldens.  Getting a Golden has been on my bucket list for many years and I finally found the breeding I was looking for.  This blog is going to be about our journey together whether training, competing or when he just makes me laugh.

This is his sire NDC NMFR Rockerin Red River Ruckus and his dam Ram River Bella.  Reed came all the way from sunny California.

He arrived by air at the Detroit airport and with the help of another puppy buyer arrived in Canada early Sunday evening.  It was a three hour drive for us and he was great at letting me know he had to go.  We had to stop twice along the way.  Here he is sleeping on the way home.

That night we found out he has a great set of lungs, thankfully it didn't last long as he was pretty tired.  We weren't so lucky the next day, lol.
